Security on both islands is managed by the United States Park Police. Prior to boarding a ferry to Liberty and Ellis Islands, all visitors are required to submit to airport-style security screening.
It is recommended that visitors arrive 30 minutes before scheduled reserve time. The time on the reserve ticket allows entry into the screening facility not an actual vessel departure.
Prohibited items include: firearms, explosives or flammables, knives or sharp objects (including tools) pepper spray, mace, tripods and all markers (permanent or erasable). Your electronics may be inspected if you bring them to the islands.
There are no locker facilities at the New York and New Jersey departure points.
